The rat cage, for laboratory animals, is a container (1) with closed side walls (122-124) and base (111) and an inner food rack (3). A swing arm (5) with a turntable (51) is at the container to connect the tube (91) from an infusion pump (9). A catheter (7) is at the turntable, in a protective shrouding (71), held at the turntable at one end while the other end is attached to a rat. The lid (2) has a slit passage for the catheter so that the rat with the attached catheter has free access to all areas of the container base.
