发明名称 METHOD FOR TESTING LINING MATERIALS FOR MAGNESIUM ELECTROLYTIC CELLS
摘要 The present invention relates to methods for testing heat-resistance ceramic materials, specifically lining materials for magnesium electrolytic cells, for the purpose to determine the resistance such materials to breaking effects. The proposed method for testing lining materials consists in rigidly fixing the material sample to the cathode of the electrolytic cell so that the sample is entirely immersed in the melt of magnesium chloride, holding the sample in the melt for 60 à 90 minutes, then heating the melt, and carrying out an electrolysis process at varying temperature of the melt. The depth of the immersion of the sample into the melt is determined so that 80 à 90 % of the cathode surface would be separated by the material of the sample from direct contact with the electrolyte. The resistance of the material to breaking effects is determined by the characteristic features and intensity of the breaking of the sample. The present invention allows the testing time to be reduced.
