The proposed penetrant for liquid penetrant inspection contains basic hydrocarbon liquid, organic dye, nonionic surface-active substance, and additionally, fatty acid and benzyl benzoate. As the hydrocarbon liquid, the product of the high hydrogenation of oil kerosene fraction is used. As the organic dye, crimson dye form a number of antipyrine compounds with the quinoid group is used. The composition of the penetrant, in percent by weight, is as follows: Organic dye 3 à5 % Surface-active 0,5 à 1,0 % substance Fatty acid 10 à 15 % Benzyl benzoate 5 à 10 % Basic hydrocarbon Up to 100 % liquid The proposed penetrant provides a possibility to detect surface defects with dimensions down to 0.5 m.
