1,133,928. Machine tool details. JOHANNES FRERES. 16 March, 1967 [18 March, 1966], No. 12394/67. Heading B3B. In a work-supporting or driving device having a plurality of work contacting members 2 adapted to bear simultaneously and with equal pressure on an irregular surface of a workpiece, the members 2 are slidably mounted in a direction perpendicular to a plane in which a series of wedge members 6 are slidably disposed, each work contacting member 2 bearing by means of its rear end face 4 on a sphere or roller 5 each of which is supported by an inclined end face 8 of two adjacent wedge members 6. In a lathe driver, Fig. 5, having an adjustably spring-loaded centre 15, driving dogs 29 are mounted on the slidable members 2 being bolted thereto by bolts 31 passing through bases 30 for the driving dogs. Flat faces 32 on the driving dog bases 30 co-operate with slots 33 in a body member 22 to prevent rotation of the dogs 29 together with the members 2. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) a work-supporting device has workcontacting members projecting in opposite directions therefrom so that the device may be mounted between and support two irregular surfaces. |
