PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire air pressure monitoring system that can easily respond to replacement or the like of a tire, can independently detect air pressure reduction of each tire, and has a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This system comprises a two-dimensional temperature detector 20 capable of detecting temperatures of a plurality of tires 12 disposed in a vehicle 10 in non-contact state and substantially simultaneously and a body ECU for monitoring air pressure of each tire 12 based on the detected result by the two-dimensional temperature detector 20. The temperature detector 20 has a single lens in front of a thermopile type sensor having elements arranged in a matrix 8×8 to 10×10.
