APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING BETWEEN ROLLS WITH SIDE DAMS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for continuously casting a thin steel strip between rolls which includes two cooling rolls (1) rotated mutually in reverse direction, two side dams (3) and a means for supporting the side dams and pressing the side dams to abut on the top end parts (2) of the rolls. SOLUTION: In the apparatus, the supporting means includes: (I) a thrust plate (10) which is movable in the axial direction (A) of the rolls(1) and is arranged in the direction perpendicular to the direction (A); (II) a panel (19) which is supported by the thrust plate (10), is arranged facing the plate 10 and supports the side dams (3); and (III) three or more thrust members (14) which are arranged between the thrust plate (10) and the panel (19) and are arranged to be distributed in the zones corresponding to the shapes of the side dams (3) and apply the thrust force to the side dams mutually independently.
