The machine tool has a motor housing (11) which accommodates an electric motor drive for a grinding or cutting wheel (14). The housing bears a central pivot pin (22) on its side remote from the tool. A handle (15), rotatably mounted on the pivot pin, consists of two half shells covering the front side of the housing. The handle includes a tongue (19) for operating an electric switch (35), connected via an electric cable (34) passed through the pivot pin, to the motor drive. A fixing device (20) secures the handle in at least two different rotational positions relative to the housing. The fixing device includes a manual operating member (21) disposed on the handle. A bearing half shell (30, 31), rotatably mounted on the pivot pin, is moulded onto each handle shell. A sleeve (32) is inserted in a blind hole (23) made in the front side of the pivot pin. The sleeve engages by way of a radial flange (321). The sleeve locks by way of snap hooks (322), which are formed at or near its end remote from the flange, into radial recesses (33) in the pin.
