PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device which can accurately judge the emptiness of an ink, and an ink cartridge. SOLUTION: On the bottom section of the ink cartridge 2, a cylindrical first barrier 64 of which the upper end is opened by an opening 65, and a cylindrical second barrier 66 of which the upper end is opened by an opening 67 are arranged. Communication holes 62 and 63 are formed in vicinities of the bottom sections of the first barrier 64 and the second barrier 66. The ink I is extracted to the vicinities of the bottom sections through an extracting needle 51, and air bubbles W, which are generated accompanying the introduction of the outside air by an outside air introducing needle 52, are prevented from coming into contact with the extracting needle 51 by both barriers 64 and 66. Therefore, under a state that there is no ink I in the ink cartridge 2, the electrical conduction between the extracting needle 51 and the outside air introducing needle 52 through the air bubble W can be prevented from occurring.
