PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which cleaning failure caused by bounding of a cleaning blade, curling of the blade, etc., are basically prevented and a blade fluttering phenomenon is prevented even in the case of an organic photoreceptor whose linear speed is high. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the organic photoreceptor which is rotated; a toner image forming means for forming a toner image by developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the organic photoreceptor with toner; a transfer means for transferring the toner image formed on the organic photoreceptor onto a recording medium; and a cleaning means formed from a cleaning blade which abuts on the surface of the organic photoreceptor. The ratio b/a, or the ratio of the free length b(mm) of the cleaning blade to the thickness a(mm) of the cleaning blade, is set within the range of (2.9LS/1,000+3.7<b/a<3.1LS/1,000+3.9) in a relation with the linear speed LS(mm/sec) of the organic photoreceptor.
