摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a zoom optical system which is compact and has high image forming performance and whose angle of view is wide and which has a high variable magnification ratio by correcting aberration while thinning a lens part in total thickness when the lens part is retracted and housed. SOLUTION: The zoom optical system of the imaging apparatus has a 1st group G1 having negative refractive power and a 2nd group G2 having positive refractive power. The 1st group G1 includes a negative single lens including at least one aspherical surface and a positive single lens, and air distance is arranged between the negative single lens and the positive single lens. The 2nd group G2 is constituted of a positive lens, a cemented lens of a positive lens and a negative lens, and a positive lens, has at least one aspherical surface, and varies magnification by changing distance between the respective lens groups, and then satisfies a conditional expression (1) regulating the appropriate refractive power allotted range of the 1st group G1, a conditional expression (2) regulating the range of the angle of view at a wide angle end and a conditional expression (3) regulating the range of the angle of view at a telephoto end.
