A belt grinding system, e.g. for fine grinding, has an abrasive belt looped over three rollers and with the upper section of the belt parallel to the work table. One roller is connected to the flexible drive via a tag drive and with the flexible drive connected to a pendant supported motor. A second rotor has an eccentric mounting for tensioning the belt. The third rotor sets the parallel alignment of the belt with the work table. Different working modules can be fitted to the system including;- a box to collect metal dust, e.g. for working on fine metals, a sloping support for grinding at different angles, a sloping support for sharpening drill bits. The system can take four different thicknesses of grinding belt.
