The compound beam axle consists of a lower and an upper shell. The transverse strut (17) is mounted in such a way that the rear side of the transverse strut (26) is in front of the imaginary line of the steering knuckle brackets (18, 19), which improves the torsion characteristics of the axle even with heavy loads. From a top view perspective the rear side of the hollow transverse strut (17) has a concave design.
