[Also in Division B5] A liquid dispensing container comprises a plastics circular tubular body 2, having an overlapping side seam 16, 18 and a number of alternating folds, extending axially along the body but terminating inwardly of the ends to define unfolded end portions 12, 14 to which are attached end closures 4, 6, each formed with a U-shaped side fold 34, 22, in which the respective body end is received, and including a peripheral lip 38, 26, extending over and around, or inside, the body end, the body being waisted. The upper end closure 4 is formed with stepped frusto-conical wall portions 42, 44, the upper of which defines a dispensing aperture, sealed by a plug 32, which is formed with a bead under the aperture to retain it in position. The body may have an elliptical cross-section. The body is formed from a semi-rigid plastics sheet, preferably biaxially oriented polystyrene, the folds being cold formed, and the overlapping seam may be maintained by the end closures. The end closures may be thermo-formed biaxially oriented polystyrene and assembled on the body ends and heat shrunk, being maintained in position, as the side seam may be, by solvent sealing, heat sealing, or by an adhesive. The bead is formed on the plug 32 by heated arms (104), Fig. 6 (not shown), on a member (106) which is rotated to force the arms (104) radially outwards against the plug. |
