发明名称 Heat-curable compositions
摘要
A composition comprises (a) a hydrolysate of a compound of formula <FORM:1102911/C3/1> (b) a polymer having unit general formula <FORM:1102911/C3/2> a total of 100 parts by weight of (a) and (b) being present, and (c) a catalytic amount of a curing catalyst for (a); R is H or a C1 to C6 alkyl radical, X is a hydrolysable atom or group, n is an integer exceeding 3, m is 0 or 1 and R1 is an alkyl radical. When n is 4 or 5, (b) is present in amount from 20 to 98 parts and (a) in amount from 80 to 2 parts, whereas when n is greater than 5, (b) is present in amount 20 to 90 parts and (a) in amount from 80 to 10 parts. X may be Cl, Br, acyloxy, alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, isocyanate or alkyl-substituted isocyanoxy. Component (b) is preferably polymethyl methacrylate, polystearyl methacrylate or polyethyl acrylate. The condensation catalysts (c) specified are organic acid salts, titanium or zirconium salts, organo-titanium complexes, organic amines and silicone-amines, the preferred catalysts being of formula <FORM:1102911/C3/3> where Q is a hydrogen atom (catalyst (x)) or a methyl group (catalyst (y)). The composition is applied directly, in solution, or in emulsion, to a fabric and cured by heating (see Divisions B2 and D1). In Example 1 a hydrolysate of <FORM:1102911/C3/4> is mixed with polymethyl methacrylate, catalyst (y), methyl isobutyl ketone and trichlorofluoroethane; in Example 6 the latter solvent is omitted. In Example 2 the same hydrolysate is mixed with poly(n-butyl) methacrylate, polylauryl methacrylate, polystearyl methacrylate or polyethyl acrylate, catalyst (y) and methyl isobutyl ketone. The hydrolysate and catalyst of Example 1 are mixed in Example 3 with the same ketone and trichlorotrifluoroethane. In Example 4 a hydrolysate of C7H15CH2CH2SiCl3 is mixed with polystearyl methacrylate, catalyst (x) and the said ketone. In Example 7-(1) a hydrolysate of <FORM:1102911/C3/5> poly(n-butyl) acrylate, and tetra(n-butyl) titanate are dissolved in diethyl ether; (2) a hydrolysate of C20F41CH2CH2Si [ON=C(CH3)2]3, polydecyl acrylate and stannous octoate are dissolved in tetrahydrofuran; (3) a hydrolysate of <FORM:1102911/C3/6> poly(n-propyl) acrylate and triethanolamine are dissolved in cyclohexane; (4) a hydrolysate of <FORM:1102911/C3/7> polyethyl methacrylate and diisopropylamine are emulsified in water and (5) a hydrolysate of C8F17CH2CH2Si(OC2H5)3, a stearyl acrylatemethyl methacrylate copolymer and magnesium laurate are dissolved in diisopropyl ether.ALSO:A fabric is rendered oleophobic and hydrophobic by applying to it a composition comprising (a) a hydrolysate of a compound of general formula <FORM:1102911/B1-B2/1> , (b) a polymeric compound having the unit general formula <FORM:1102911/B1-B2/2> , there being a total of 100 parts by weight of (a) and (b), and (c) a catalytic amount of a curing catalyst for (a), where R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, X is a hydrolysable atom or group, n is an integer exceeding 3, m is 0 or 1 and R1 is an alkyl radical and curing the resulting coated fabric, at least 1% by weight, calculated on the fabric weight, of the composition being picked up by the fabric. In the examples, squares of wool felt, cotton percale, gabardine, glass, viscose, cellulose acetate, nylon, polyethylene terephthalate, polyacrylonitrile and "Arnel" ("Arnel" is a Trade Mark) are immersed in a solution or emulsion of the composition, drip-dried and cured by heating.ALSO:A fabric is treated with a composition comprising (a) a hydrolysate of a compound of general formula <FORM:1102911/D1-D2/1> (b) a polymeric compound having the unit general formula <FORM:1102911/D1-D2/2> there being a total of 100 parts by weight of (a) and (b) present, and (c) a catalytic amount of a curing catalyst for (a), where R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, X is a hydrolysable atom or group, n is an integer exceeding 3, m is 0 or 1 and R1 is an alkyl radical, and curing the resulting fabric, at least 1% by weight of the composition, based on the fabric weight being picked up by the fabric. In the examples squares of wool felt, cotton percale, gabardine, glass, viscose, cellulose acetate, nylon, polyethylene terephthalate, polyacrylonitrile and "Arnel" ("Arnel" is a Trade Mark) are immersed in a solution of emulsion containing the said composition, drip-dried and cured by heating.
