Automatic exposure value setting means for a camera includes a light meter 1, a pivoted camplate 6 for exposing the moving pointer 2 of the meter, a pivoted aperture setting lever 12 coupled to at least one diaphragm blade 14, and a tension spring 15 between the cam-plate 6 and an extension 11b of the setting lever 12 to urge them together. A return spring-loaded release means 18 is separately coupled to the cam-plate 6 and setting lever 12 to hold them in end positions against the action of the tension spring 15, such that when means 18 is released, the cam-plate 6 moves to clamp the meter pointer 2 with one cam surface 7 and the setting lever 12 moves to engage the other cam surface 8, the position of the cam-plate after release being thus determined by the position of the pointer. The cam surfaces 7, 8 may be toothed or roughened. A changeover mechanism may be incorporated for manual adjustment of the aperture, which changeover mechanism may comprise a stop 29 to limit the movement of the setting lever 12, and a blade spring 26, which when released into the manual position, urges a projection 27 on the spring into a recess 28 in the cam-plate 6, thereby locking it in position. The release means 18 may be a longitudinally slidable member in direct engagement with the cam-plate 6 and coupled to the setting lever 12 via a lever 10 connected to the release means 18 by a pin and slot coupling, and a cam surface 11a for engaging the setting lever 12. The cam-plate 6, setting lever 12, and associated mechanism may all be mounted on the same plate 4 as the camera shutter. |
