<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter that can stably and smoothly start an inverter by suppressing electric and mechanical vibration and disturbance when starting the inverter from a state that a motor rotates at low speed. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter comprises the inverter 1 that applies an AC voltage of a variable-voltage variable-frequency to the induction motor 3, and a speed sensorless control means that estimates the rotational speed of the induction motor 3 and drives the motor by controlling an output voltage of the inverter 1. The rough speed of the induction motor 3 is estimated immediately after the start of the inverter 1, and when the estimated speed is determined to be low, an initial value of a frequency outputted from the inverter 1 is set to a value other than zero in a direction to which rotation is required. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
