<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system which can lengthen the transmission distance of signal lights, while suppressing the transmission quality deterioration of the lights, especially an optical transmission system suited to metro systems or access systems. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission system 100 comprises an optical fiber transmission line 120, having a zero-dispersive wavelength λ<SB>0</SB>, a plurality of direct modulation type laser diodes 111<SB>1</SB>-111<SB>N</SB>for respectively outputting a plurality of signal lights with wavelength spacings of 5 nm or larger in a wavelength band involving the zero-dispersive wavelength, and an optical multiplexer 112 for multiplexing the plurality of signal lights outputted from the plurality of direct modulation type laser diodes. This provides an optical transmission system which lengthens the transmission distance of signal lights, while suppressing the transmission quality deterioration of the lights, especially an optical transmission system suited to metro systems or access systems. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
