PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filament having carbon nanotubes as a main component, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a filament has a process in which a nanotube assembly made by assembling a plurality of carbon nanotubes in a network state is formed by depositing carbons from gas phase. Then, the method has a process of drawing the nanotube assembly and a process of overlapping the nanotube assembly. The drawing process can be carried out for a plurality of times by having the overlapping process in between.
