PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize long-hour recording while reducing the curtailment of an amount of data. SOLUTION: Video and voice signals received by tuners 1a to 1f are compressed by compression circuits 6a to 7f through detector circuits 2a to 3f and A-D converters 4a to 5f. These compressed signals are synthesized by a multiplexor 12 through recording switches 8a to 9f and buffer memory 10a to 11f, and are recorded by a recording means 13. On the other hand, discrimination data (UID) for discriminating the contents of the received data are detected by discrimination circuits (decoders) 14a to 14f, and these discrimination data are stored in a memory circuit (memory) 16. Then, the discrimination data, which is stored in the memory 16, of the signals pre-recorded by the recording means 13 are compared with the new discrimination data from the decoders 14a to 14f by a comparator circuit 15, and when these are in agreement, the recording switches 8a to 9f are turned off, to inhibit the recording of the signals received by the corresponding tuners 1a to 1f.
