PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact pin for an inspection tool that has stable elasticity and can prevent dislodgement from a head part while dispensing with fixing work. SOLUTION: The flexible and elastic contact pin 110, which is used in an inspection tool 100 for inspecting electrical characteristics of an inspected object via electrical contact with the inspected object, has a wire body 110d having a tip portion 110a to be brought into contact with the inspected object and a base portion 110b to be brought into contact with a connection electrode electrically connected to an inspection circuit, an insulating coating 110c formed over the periphery of the wire body 100d except for the tip portion 110a and base portion 110b, and step portions 110e formed between the tip portion 110a and base portion 110b of the wire body 110d and ends of the insulating coating 110c and housed in a head part.
