PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double section shield method and a water cut-off member used therefor capable of easily increasing water cut-off efficiency when a shield machine 2 is advanced in the double section shield method assembling a tunnel lining body 5 becoming independent every shield machine 2 in the back by connecting a plurality of shield machines 2 to each other to propel. SOLUTION: The water cut-off member 32 closing an opening section of an entrance 1 equipped with a hole section forming the approximately same shaped inner circumferential surface as that of the lining body 5 is placed in the rear end section of a connecting body 3 in advance, a propulsive member 33 having the approximately same shaped inner circumferential surface as that of the lining body 5 is inserted from the rear end section of the water cut-off member 32, and after the connecting body 3 and the water cut-off member 32 are advanced until the water cut-off member 32 is placed in the entrance 1, only the connecting body 3 is advanced.
