PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which an aromatic polyether having high transparency is obtained with slight coloring. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aromatic polyether is carried out as follows. A biphenol compound (1) is subjected to a condensation reaction with a dihalogenated biphenyl compound (2) in the coexistence of an alkali metal carbonate and/or an alkali metal bicarbonate and an aprotic polar solvent.
