PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding apparatus capable of stable sheet feeding while promptly coping with erroneous sheet delivery without need for a complicated mechanism or setting and adjustment of high accuracy. SOLUTION: This sheet feeding apparatus comprises: a delivery roller 2 for delivering sheets in a tray 1; a roller pressure means 3 for pressing the delivery roller 2 against the surface of the sheet, a control means 15 for performing a sheet delivery operation; and delivery detection means 9 for detecting if the sheet is delivered. The control means 15 is structured so as to temporarily increase the pressure of the delivery roller 2 against the sheet when erroneous delivery is detected by the delivery detection means 9 in the sheet delivery operation.
