PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for washing a fruit vegetable food or the like by a hand, effective for the washing of foliage plants or the like at a low cost. SOLUTION: The machine for washing the fruit vegetable food or the like has a handwashing vessel 12 having a certain depth and set at a working height, a jetting means 14 for jetting cleaning water from one 24a side of the handwashing vessel to the opposite wall 24b side in the horizontal direction, a releasing part 16 for releasing the cleaning water from the jetting means 14 to the exterior of the vessel and formed at the opposite wall 24b side of the handwashing vessel, and a circulating structure 18 for jetting the water returned from the releasing part, from the jetting means 14 as the cleaning water again. The releasing part 16 includes an overflow part 34 formed at the upper end part of the opposite wall 24b and an oblong slit 36 the lower edge of which is set at least the same position as or a lower position than the upper face of a bottom wall 22 of the hand-washing vessel 12.
