Novel process for producing an ophthalmic lens article having a surface excelling in biocompatibility; an ophthalmic lens article excelling in biocompatibility; and a mold for producing such an ophthalmic lens article. First mold (12) and second mold (14) that cooperate to form by mold register a molding cavity of configuration designed so as to produce the target ophthalmic lens article (44), on at least portions of regions defining the molding cavity, are fitted with electrodes (28, 38) constituted of conductive material. A monomer mixture solution containing at least an ionic monomer is charged in the molding cavity and in that state is brought into contact with the pair of electrodes (28, 38). While direct current voltage is applied between the pair of electrodes (28, 38), polymerization of the monomer mixture solution is carried out.
