PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process and an in-home video guide hardware enabling an in-home viewer to interactively control channel programming guide. SOLUTION: A system interactively controlled by a TV remote control transmitter (35) displays descriptive data and a video clip concerning a program identified on the program guide, on a display screen (33) of the viewer in response to a request from the viewer. A tuner (17) receives a TV radio frequency signal or an optical transmission signal in a plurality of cable channels, and transmits the viewer usable signal of any arbitrary channel selected from a plurality of channels to a signal combiner.
