PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which the production of ozone is suppressed, carrier adhesion is not caused and a high-sharpness toner image having excellent fine line reproducibility is obtained. SOLUTION: In the image forming method of performing development by oppositely disposing an electrostatic latent image carrier having a charge injection layer of 1×10<SP>10</SP>to 1×10<SP>16</SP>Ωin surface resistance and a developer carrier carrying a two-component developer containing a magnetic carrier and toner, the number average grain size of magnetic carrier particles is 5 to 100μm, the specific resistance is 5.0×10<SP>13</SP>Ωcm when 25 to 500V is applied, the intensity of magnetization at 1K oersted is 40 to 250 emu/cm<SP>3</SP>, absolute specific gravity is 3.0 to 4.9 g/cm<SP>3</SP>and the Fe (II) content to the concentration of the iron element eluted on the surface of the magnetic carrier particles is 0.001 to 5.0wt% and development is performed under application of alternating electric fields by bringing the developer magnetic brush formed on the developer carrier into contact with the electrostatic latent image carrier.
