PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter which has less variance of a curtain speed and a high shutter precision. SOLUTION: The focal plane shutter is provided with a front curtain 10 having light shielding blades 11 to 14 and a rear curtain 20 having light shielding blades 21 to 24. A front curtain arm 16 axially supports light shielding blades 11 to 14 turnably through coupling pins 17a to 17d, and a first substrate 30 having an opening 30a is arranged in parallel with and adjacently to a turning locus plane of the front curtain arm 16 and has a nickel plated layer in an area A with which coupling pins come into contact. A rear curtain arm 26 and a second substrate 31 have similar constitutions, and the second substrate 31 has a nickel plated layer in an area B also. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
