摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact charger performing uniform electrification having no irregular electrification by fully lowering contact electric resistance between a fur brush and a body to be electrified, and further performing stable electrification at low voltage in an ozoneless state at low cost over a long term, and to provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus capable of forming an excellent image where image noise is restrained over a long term by adopting the charger. SOLUTION: In the contact charger 2 having the fur brush 21 brought into contact with the body to be electrified (for example, photoreceptor) 1 and electrifying the body to be electrified 1 by making electrification assisting particles 3 intervene between the brush 21 and the body to be electrified 1, the volume resistivity of the fiber of the brush 21 is 1×10<SP>1</SP>to 1×10<SP>8</SP>Ωcm, and the primary particle size of the particles 3 is 0.01 to 10μm. The body to be electrified 1 is electrified by relatively moving the brush 21 and the body to be electrified 1 in a state where the pushing amount of the brush 21 into the body to be electrified 1 is set to≥0.1mm and≤2.0mm.
