PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the production efficiency of a PC as a whole by limiting the water content of byproduct PL produced in the PC production process as a method for dealing with byproduct phenol to maintain the production efficiency of a BPA production process and DPC production process where the byproduct PL is returned. SOLUTION: This method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate comprising a diphenyl carbonate production process, a bisphenol A production process and an aromatic polycarbonate production process is provided by limiting the water content contained in the byproduct phenol recovered in the aromatic polycarbonate production process by≤0.2 wt.%, and using it as a raw material for the diphenyl carbonate production process and/or bisphenol A production process.
