PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating meat and bone meal by which the meat and bone meal having been disposed of as domestic waste conventionally is utilized as a fertilizer. SOLUTION: This method for treating the meat and bone meal is characterized in that ash obtained by firing the meat and bone meal singularly in the air at 1,000-1,300°C is used as the fertilizer (bone ash). In such a case, the firing temperature is preferably about 1,200°C. Cow meat and bone meal is incorporated in the meat and bone meal. Further, the meat and bone meal includes that of specific dangerous parts of cow. Further, the meat and bone meal comprises only that of cow. In the method for treating the meat and bone meal, harmful materials are removed from the meat and bone meal and a good quality fertilizer (bone ash) is produced from the meat and bone meal.
