The invention relates to a method for reducing radiation in a radio telecommunications system, which emits at least one radio synchronisation signal for synchronising a base station with at least one mobile terminal. According to said method, a number of mobile terminals that are logged onto the base station is first detected (S1), a quantity of virtual continuous-receive status information is then defined (S2) and finally a comparison is made between the number of logged-on terminals with the quantity of virtual continuous-receive status information (S3), the base station being switched to an idle operating mode (S4), if the number of terminals and quantity of information are equal and the base station remaining in a normal operating mode (S5) if this is not the case. This permits the radiation generated in the telecommunications system to be significantly reduced. |
