Clamp (10) includes two opposing j aws (12, 14) pivotally engaged at adjacent ends, spring (22) arranged to provide an opening bias to separate the free ends of j aws (12, 14) and at least one threaded rod (16) extending between jaws (12, 14). Rod (16) is pivotally engaged to one of the jaws intermediate its ends and passes through the other jaw. A threaded portion on the free end of rod (16) cooperates with stop (18) so as to enable adjustment of the separation between the free ends of jaws (12, 14) against the bias of spring (22). Clamp (10) may include a ball type pivotal connection (62) and is capable of being attached to supporting members of variable shape, orientation and cross-sectional area
