Intrinsically viscous aqueous dispersions in which the aqueous phase contains a tris-hydroxyalkyl-isocyanurate. Intrinsically viscous aqueous dispersions containing solid and/or highly viscous particles (A) which are dimensionally stable under storage and usage conditions, dispersed in a continuous aqueous phase (B) which contains at least one isocyanurate of formula (I) [Image] R : -[(CR1>2)m-O]n-(CR1>2)o-; R1>H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, halogen or a nitrile group; m, o : 1-6; and n : 0 or 1-15. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of such dispersions by dispersing particles (A) in aqueous phase (B) with the addition of (I) before, during and/or after the dispersion process.
