<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic accompaniment apparatus and a program for realizing an automatic accompaniment method for making accompaniment pattern data reflect on performance input as intended by a player when the performance is inputted at a timing as scheduled by the player. <P>SOLUTION: Each note on event is looked ahead at the time (time t1 or the like) half (125ms) of prescribed fixed time earlier than the time (time t3 or the like) to sound each accompaniment sound on the basis of each note on data of the accompaniment pattern data, and a timer for timing the prescribed fixed time (time t1-t4 or the like) is started. When performance is inputted from a pedal board within the prescribed fixed time, the pitch of the corresponding note on event in the accompaniment pattern data is replaced with the pitch specified by the performance input and the accompaniment sound is generated.
