<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam welding equipment and a laser beam welding method capable of maintaining a gap of a work constituted of a plurality of plate members at a proper dimention. <P>SOLUTION: The laser beam welding equipment comprises a laser beam irradiation device 9 to irradiate laser beams 7 toward flanges 5a and 5b of a vehicle body panel 5, a moving and holding means to move and hold the laser beam irradiation device 9, and a gap correction device 3 to adjust the gap between the flanges 5a and 5b by pressing the flanges 5a and 5b in the board thickness direction, and the gap correction device 3 comprises an upper pressing device 43 to press the face sides of the flanges 5a and 5b, and a lower pressing device 45 to support back sides thereof. The upper pressing device 43 comprises a first upper pressing device 51 to press an edge portion 5c of the flange 5a, and a second upper pressing device 53 disposed with a predetermined space from the first upper pressing device 51.
