PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Y-branch waveguide capable of reducing propagation loss while securing a propagation mode of light and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: In a clad layer 2, a Y-shaped core 1 comprising a linear input-side core 1i and two linear output-side cores 1a and 1b made to branch off from the input-side core 1i. An in-branch light leak prevention part 3 is formed of photonic crystal having a refractive index periodic structure where waveguide modes of lights of wavelengths propagating in the output-side cores 1a and 1b are not present between the output-side cores 1a and 1b of the clad layer 2 and in a specified region close to the input-side core 1i.
