PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve communication connectability in a radio repeater which is suitably used in a portable telephone and a simple type portable telephone or the like, is inserted between a base station and a base station for performing radio communication by multiple access and relays and transmits a radio signal transmitted from one of them to the other. SOLUTION: A radio circuit control block 13 in a radio communication part 2 of the base station side is provided with a receiving electric field strength measuring part 14 for respectively measuring receiving electric field strength levels, and a radio circuit control block 17 in a radio communication part 3 of the terminal station side is provided with a transmitting electric field strength control part 18 that can change a transmitting electric field strength level. A control part 4 gives the same strength and weakness as observed strength and weakness on the basis of a measured receiving electric field level. Then, when a radio signal from the base station from the base station is transmitted at an uniform level, communication connectability is improved by eliminating the problem that the terminal station requests a base station with weak radio waves to establish a line.
