PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abnormal operation of a valve due to the corrosion/damage of an operating spring, by configuring an oil cylinder spring housing such that water hardly intrudes into the inside of the oil cylinder spring housing, and by providing a means for discharging the water intruded into the inside of the oil cylinder spring housing. SOLUTION: The apparatus for driving the valve is configured such that the valve stem 17 of a valve body is connected to the piston in an oil cylinder via the oil cylinder spring housing 1. When the valve is opened, an operating rod 12 retained in the oil cylinder spring housing is moved to the valve opening position against the restoring force of the operating spring by means of the piston in the oil cylinder. When the valve is closed, the operating rod is returned to the valve closing position by the restoring force of the operating spring. A drain hole 6 for discharging the water accumulated inside the oil cylinder spring housing is provided at the lower part of the oil cylinder spring housing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
