PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a recovery device for recovering cutting pieces of a wire electrode have comparatively simple constitution, to more simplify an operation and to maintain sureness when recovering the cutting pieces. SOLUTION: The recovery device 40 is provided between a cutter 20 and an upper side wire guide 2. A driving block 43 crosses a traveling route of the wire electrode 8 and reciprocates by pressurized air from a compressed air supplying device 45. Driven blocks 44 are oppositely arranged in the driving block 43 across the traveling route and is moved by being pushed out by the driving block 43. The cutting pieces of the wire electrode 8 are carried up to a just above of a recovery box 41 separated from the traveling route by being held by the driving block 43 and the driven block 44. When the driving block 43 returns to an initial position, a prescribed gap is formed again and the cutting pieces fall in the recovery box 41.
