PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rearing apparatus for fish and shellfish that can allow fish and shellfish to be raised good. SOLUTION: At the bottom of the rearing tank 1, a water-passing plate 2 for allowing water to pass through, as the flowing resistance is given and the inside of the rearing tank 1 is separated into the rearing chamber 3 for rearing fish and shellfish on the upper side of the water-passing plate 2, and the water-feeding chamber 4 on the lower side and simultaneously a sand-like particle layer 5 is provided on the upper side of the water-passing plate 2. Further, a water feeding means 6 is equipped for feeding water to the water-feeding chamber 4, as the pressure is controlled at a prescribed one and the water fed from the feeding means 6 to the water-feeding chamber 4 is allowed to pass through the water-passing plate 2 and the sand-like substance layer 5, then into the rearing chamber 3. The water can be allowed to flow through the sand-like substance layer 5 from the lower side to the upper side at a certain water pressure and there does not happen to give the fish and shellfish hiding in the sand-like substance layer 5 the stress caused by intermittent strong water flow.
