OPHTHALMIC COMPOSITION FOR TREATING LACRIMAL DISORDERS

It is intended to provide an ophthalmic composition characterized by containing 3-hydroxybutyric acid and/or its salt as the active ingredient(s) and being used for preventing eyes from dryness and, in its turn, an ophthalmic composition characterized by being used for treating lacrimal disorders. By using the above ophthalmic composition, eyes can be prevented from dryness and, in its turn, lacrimal disorders can be treated. Thus, use of the composition makes it possible to ameliorate unpleasant symptoms caused by lacrimal disorders such as eye dryness, foreign-body sensation, eye unpleasantness and eye fatigue. Moreover, this ophthalmic composition can prevent the onset of diseases caused by lacrimal disorders such as dry eye and suspected cases of dry eye. More specifically speaking, it can prevent the onset of diseases caused by lacrimal disorders without injuring cornea or conjunctiva.
