PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for lithium secondary battery which comprises a metal such as Si and Sn as a negative electrode active material, and is superior in initial efficiency and cycle characteristics, and a lithium secondary battery.

SOLUTION: This is an electrode for lithium secondary battery in which a negative electrode active material powder containing a metal capable of alloying with lithium, a conductive assistant powder, and a binder are contained and the density is in a range 1.2 g/cm3or more and 4.0 g/cm3or less.
