PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication technique applicable even to users incompatible with general authentication systems because of differences of physical features.
SOLUTION: An input part 10 accepts a fingerprint image and a classification symbol of a fingerprint width from a user. A switching control part 12 controls switches 14a, 14b according to the classification symbol of the fingerprint width; when the fingerprint width is normal, it switches the input/output of a feature extracting part 15 to a normal fingerprint width feature extraction process 16a; when the width is small, it switches the input/output of the feature extracting part 15 to a small fingerprint width feature extraction process 16b. The feature extracting part 15 applies the normal fingerprint width feature extraction process 16a to fingerprint images of the normal fingerprint width, and applies the small fingerprint width feature extraction process 16b to fingerprint images of small fingerprint widths to extract fingerprint feature data. An authenticated data generating part 19 generates authenticated fingerprint data on the basis of the fingerprint feature data extracted. A fingerprint authenticating part 24 collates the authenticated fingerprint data with fingerprint authentication data 32 registered in a fingerprint authentication database 30.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
