<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen an area used for properly performing stable data communication with a non-contact IC card. <P>SOLUTION: In this antenna 1 for the reader/writer, a metal plate 8 is arranged below an antenna coil 6. Even if the central position of the IC card 3 to the reader/writer is displaced while the non-contact IC card 3 is brought very close to the writer/reader, a card side antenna coil 5 and the metal plate 8 are electromagnetically connected together and a closed loop is formed in the metal plate 8, and a counter electromotive current flows.
