PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat development apparatus capable of heat-developing a double-sided photosensitive film as well as a single-sided photosensitive film. SOLUTION: In the heat development apparatus comprising: a heat developable recording material feed section that contains a supply tray containing a heat developable recording material; an exposure unit; a first conveyor unit that conveys the heat developable recording material from the supply tray to the exposure unit; a heat development unit; and a second conveyor unit that conveys the heat developable recording material from the exposure unit to the heat development unit, a cassette storage section that contains a cassette containing a double-sided heat developable recording material having image forming layers on both sides thereof and a third conveyor unit that conveys the double-sided heat developable recording material from the cassette to the first conveyor unit are disposed, and when the double-sided heat developable recording material is heat-developed, operation of the exposure unit is stopped.
