The assembly (10) consists of an annular component such as a diaphragm (A10) with a continuous circular periphery (33). A central section is divided by slots (34) into radial fingers. A second annular component (B10), in the form of an assistance ring (35), is situated on one side of the diaphragm's edge and applying an axial effort in the opposite direction to that of the diaphragm. The axial effort applied by the assistance ring is zero or very weak when the assembly is in its compressed state, when the diaphragm is exerting its maximal axial effort. The diaphragm and ring are joined together by a layer (18) of an elastic material, to which both components are attached and held together by clips or rivets.
