<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to visually confirm the contents of setting items and to easily change the setting items even on a display screen having restriction of memory size. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera is provided with a display unit, and a menu consisting of a series of setting details in which image quality and a photometric system of a photographing mode are displayed by character information, symbols or figures are entirely displayed on a display unit according to the operation of a menu button. Then, according to an operation for a telescopic side unit of a zooming lever, the display is switched from a normal display for simultaneously displaying a plurality of setting items to an expanding display for displaying the selected items surrounded by a bar LB on the entire screen of a liquid crystal display unit 30.
