PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical battery having good heavy-current discharge characteristics and high metallic case pressure resistance. SOLUTION: The cylindrical battery has an electrode group 5; a positive current collector 10 welded to a core projecting part of a positive electrode in the electrode group 5, a negative current collector 11 having a plurality of projections 12 projected to the lower surface and whose upper surface is welded to the core projecting part of the negative electrode in the electrode group 5; a metallic case 7 in which the electrode group 5 to which the current collectors 10, 11 are welded is housed so that the negative current collector 11 locates downward, and the projections 12 of the negative current collector 11 are welded to the inner bottom surface; an electrolyte poured into the metallic case 7; and a sealing body 9 electrically insulated from the metallic case 7 and sealing the upper part of the metallic case 7, and the projections 12 of the negative current collector 11 are arranged in a plurality of portions within a region between a part facing a hollow cylindrical part 5a and a peripheral part of the electrode group 5.
