PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device capable of switching the changing direction of a rotational phase in a short time. SOLUTION: This valve timing adjusting device comprises a guiding rotary body 25 forming a guiding passage 64 extending so as to change a radial directional distance from the rotational center line O, and guiding a movable body 26 in the longitudinal direction of the guiding passage 64 by relatively rotating to a driving rotary body, and a phase changing mechanism 10 for changing the rotational phase of a driven shaft to a driving shaft to the timing delay side when the movable body 26 separates from the rotational center line O, and changing the rotational phase to the timing advance side when the movable body 26 approaches the rotational center line O. The guiding passage 64 has longitudinally continuously a gradually reducing area 66 slantingly extending to the radial directional axis of a guiding rotary body 25, and gradually reducing in the radial directional distance for approaching passage one end 64a in the longitudinal direction of the guiding passage 64, and a gradually increasing area 68 slantingly extending to the radial directional axis of the guiding rotary body 25, and gradually increasing in the radial directional distance for approaching the one end 64a in the longitudinal direction of the guiding passage 64.
